Font Fixer 1.0.5
With Font Fixer 1.0.5, you can set your favorite font as default for Bangla language, where Microsoft makes “Vrinda” default. Normally, there is no direct way to change this setting, as such things are hard coded.
Font Fixer 1.0.5 makes this easy for you, just select which font you want to make default for Bangla language, and with just a simple reboot, no patch and system file change, you get it, in a safe and easy way and restore the original setting anytime.

Instructions for use:

I managed to get that yellowswordfish plug-in and modded it in a manner similar to yours (for now) minus the download icon, which is different… will get a new colour scheme up later.
Meanwhile, can you please direct me to some site where I can find nice icons / images representing download, installation, requirements etc. Where did you get yours?

With ‘Vrina’ install by MS would insufficiet to wite begali or use fonts unless there’s “keyboard layout”, is n’t it? So would you like to give some useful info in the cited quary?

Font Fixer 1.0.5 ব্যবহার করে আমি খুশি হইনি। এই উদ্যোগকে সাধুবাদ জানানো অবশ্যই দরকার, কিন্তু এটা ব্যবহার করার সময় দেখলাম যে Vrinda delete করে দেওয়া ছাড়া আর কিছুই এটা করতে পারল না। ফলে আমার ঝামেলা আরো বেড়ে গেল। যাই হোক, আমি latest IE8 Beta 2 ব্যবহার করি – Internet Options>Fonts – এ গিয়ে নিজেই সব ঠিক করলাম।

এই সূত্রে জানাই, Vrinda -র ঝামেলা এড়াতে কারিকুরি করতে গিয়ে এসব বাড়তি ঝামেলা কেউ যদি এড়াতে চান, তাহলে আন্তর্জালে একটু খুঁজলেই improved Vrinda / Hacked Vrinda পেয়ে যাবেন। আপনাদের আর যাতে আমার মতো ঝামেলা না পোহাতে হয়, আমি বরং সরাসরি খোঁজটাও দিয়ে দিইঃ [ LINK REMOVED due to use of a fake email address for posting this comment
১. ওই Font -টা desktop -এ এনে রাখুন
২. Control Panel>Fonts খুলুন
৩. আপনি যদি আমার মতো Font Fixer ব্যবহার করে ঝামেলায় পড়ে থাকেন, তাহলে এই ধাপটা ওই Font Fixer -ই করে রেখেছে Vrinda delete করে দিয়ে। যদি তা নাও হয়, তাহলেও আপনি নিজেই Vrinda delete করে দিন। কারন improved Vrinda / Hacked Vrinda আসলটার থেকে আরো বেশি ভালো।
৪. Desktop থেকে নতুন Vrinda file টাকে এক টানে Fonts window -টার নধ্যে এনে ফেলুন। ব্যাস, কাজ শেষ। এবার শুধু PC restart করে নিলেই আপনি নির্বিঘ্নে Windows 2000/XP/Vista তে বাংলা ব্যবহার করে যান।
এই পদ্ধতির সুবিধে হলঃ
১. কোনো Program load/run করার প্রয়োজন নেই।
২. কোনো অতিরিক্ত setting নিয়ে ঘাঁটার প্রয়োজন নেই। IE, MNO -তে গিয়ে আর কিছুই করতে হবে না। হরফের আকার বড় হলে এমনিতেই সব ঠিকঠাক দেখাবে। কোনো বাড়তি ঝামেলা নেই – শুধু সঠিক Font টা যোগাড় করে Fonts folder -এর মধ্যে টেনে ফেলে দিন, ব্যাস।
(বিঃদ্রঃ improved Vrinda / Hacked Vrinda তে শুধুমাত্র হরফের আকার বাড়িয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে। এতে আর কোন ফেরবদল করা হয়নি। তাই খন্ড-ত এর হরফ পাবেন না কারন তা আসল Vrinda -তেই নেই। তবে খন্ড-ত এর হরফ যুক্ত করার বিষয়েও শিঘ্রই ব্যবস্থা করা হবে বলে আশা করা যায়।)

I was using customized font settings for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and IE7 to view/edit Bengali sites. When I come to know about Font Fixer, I got really pleased. I am really bored with the Bengali Page Titles in Vrinda. And I wanted to replace that with my own choice of fonts. That’s why, I’ve removed those customizations and replaced default font from vrinda to adorsholipi/siyam rupali using Font Fixer 1.0.5. But unfortunately, it still shows vrinda everywhere. I am using Font Fixer 1.0.5 for the first time. I think I’ve followed the instructed procedure. But it’s not working. Later I tried with the version 1.0.4i. But still the same.
Please tell me where the problem is. Is there anything for me to do additionally? Like reinstalling browsers or anything. Please help, because I really want to use adorsholipi/siyam rupali instead of vrinda.
And finally, although I can’t use it properly now, I think its a great work!

Thanks for reporting. If you are using Windows Vista then you have to delete the Vrinda font manually. And, I’d like to inform you that “adorsholipi” is not a unicode font.

Thanks for answering. But I use Windows XP SP2.
And by “adorsholipi” I meant the font which is found in the following link-

I think this is the unicoded version of the traditional Adorsholipi font.
However, it doesn’t matter which unicode font I use. It just doesn’t work now.
Please tell me, what should I do about it? Should I go back to my previous settings(browser settings)? Or there’s anything else?

ভিস্তাতে এই রেজেস্টি পাথের IEFixedFontName এবং IEPropFontName এর ভেলু বদলে দিয়ে অন্য কোন ফন্টের নাম দিলে সেটা, IE বাংলার জন্য ব্যবহার করে।
আর রিফাত, এই সফ্টওয়্যারটার সাথে ২টা বাংলা ফন্ট (সিয়ামরুপালি, সোলেমানলিপি) পেক করে দিলে ভাল হতো! তাহলে আর আলাদা করে ফন্ট ডাউনলোড করা লাগতো না

And the problem with vista is it can’t delete the font file, if you delete it manually then it’ll work.

Font Fixer 1.0.4 or 1.0.5 simply doesn’t work for my MS-Office 2007 and especially for Word2007 (I regularly work with MSWord2007). Vrinda simply doesn’t go away !!!
Please fix your font-fixer first !

In any case, yes I followed your instructions in full — but the problem remains. It works fine with Word2003, but not with Word2007. Can you help ? That’s the question.

OMG! I’m rude?? Let me tell you something, you are claiming that it works on Word 2003 but not with Word 2007. It sounds funny cause Font Fixer deletes ‘Vrinda’ from your pc, then how could you see Vrinda in your Word 2007. And as I told above, Vista users have to delete the ‘Vrinda’ font manually from their system.

Sorry for my mistake, that font was unicode [I thought about the ASCII one]. BTW, It doesn’t deal with any Firefox or Chrome settings. And, It should delete ‘Vrinda’ from your PC except it blocked by some anitivirus. So, Please delete ‘Vrinda’ from your PC manually and try again.

It was built for Windows XP… But, It works on my Windows7 RC1 [But, you have to delete the Vrinda font manually]…
